Falcon Concentrators purchases Sepro Mineral Processing International!

 

Falcon Concentrators is pleased to announce the purchase of Sepro Mineral Processing International (SMPI).  SMPI is a UK based company, in operation for over 20 years, providing pneumatic tyre driven mills and scrubbers into the mining industry.  These well proven high quality mills and scrubbers enjoy lower capital costs and shorter delivery lead times than others currently available on the market. In addition, SMPI provides complete equipment packages including screening, classification and materials handling. The combined company will now offer a host of products and services from individual pieces of equipment, through to milling and classification modules, and finally complete gravity only plants.

 

The newly formed entity will operate under the name “Sepro Systems” and will encompass all of the equipment and services that the two previous companies provided.

Falcon recovers -45 micron hematite Print E-mail

Mikhailovsky GOK based in the region of the Kurst Magnetic Anomaly (KMA) in central Russia recently completed a detailed investigation into the recovery of fine hematite from final tailings using a Falcon SB40.

Prior laboratory investigations from LIMS tailings of Mikhailovsky GOK on spirals, flat bottom cyclones and concentrating tables resulted in multiple scavenging and cleaning operations and very low product yield.

Different processing regimes were used in order to optimize the performance of the SB40. Classification of the feed was done and it was ascertained that the majority of the hematite was in the 20 - 50 micron fraction. It was therefore concluded that the plus 160-micron material be sent to final tailings and the minus fraction sent to the Falcon.

The complete flowsheet is as follows: preliminary classification, rougher separation by Falcon, regrind of Falcon concentrate and cleaner separation by Falcon.

The results achieved using the above circuit were as follows:

Hematite concentrate with an iron grade of 63 - 64% at a mass recovery of 37% and a metallurgical recovery of 45%.
